Internet Privacy: It is not getting better

Balachander Krishnamurthy, AT&T
The leakage of privacy on the Internet continues unabated. I will present results from a number of studies over the last five years that show increasing aggregation of user-related data by a steadily decreasing number of entities. I will present details of leakage of personally identifiable information via Online Social Networks (traditional and mobile OSNs) as well as via popular non-OSN sites. I will discuss various technical and non-technical approaches to addressing this serious problem and why I am pessimistic about most of them.
